Supporting Aged Care facilities during COVID

A world first app designed for
aged care workers dealing with COVID-19.
Our aim is to reduce  the incidence and transmission of the virus within the aged care environment and between aged care workers, their residents and families.

Prof Paul Bertsch

Interim Queensland Chief Scientist

"I am convinced that novel apps, such as this one,

that are backed by the best available science in infectious disease, behavioural science, and gamification, will be useful in containing the spread of the virus and avoiding the most serious

consequences for many vulnerable people in our community

A world first trial of an app for aged care workers dealing with COVID-19. Our aim is to reduce  the incidence and transmission of the virus within the aged care environment and between aged care workers, their residents and families.

Protect those most vulnerable to COVID

Health care and aged care workers are critical to reducing and managing infection rates.

Workers need to be supported for doing the right safety behaviours and in their well-being as frontline workers.

Information alone
does not
change behaviour

Aged care workers  are very experienced in infectious disease control management and patient care. But new times and new practices require  a different approach. Behavioural science-backed gamification shifts behaviour through reward and recognition.

“Behavioural science is

absolutely central

to our fight against

the pandemic.”

The New Scientist

Support staff,
transform facilities

Using a behavioural science app to inform, manage, and reward staff for behaviours ranging from:

  • Mental and emotional health and resilience.

  • Helping others, keeping socially connected and working towards the greater good.

  • And more...

This app has been built through a collaborative partnership between the University of Queensland, Asymmetric Innovation and PentaQuest. We've  teamed up with to tackle the challenge of COVID-19 in residential aged care across Australia. The partnership brings together deep expertise in behavioural science and gamification powered by world renowned infectious disease science at the forefront of the effort to create change.
